New Elder Scrolls Online Content Delayed After Layoffs

Despite losing a staggering amount of staff in a recent layoff, developer ZeniMax Online Studios (ZOS) has reiterated that The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) is 'here to stay,' and the team has dropped a new roadmap to prove that more content is still coming to the popular MMORPG.

Developer ZeniMax Online Studios (ZOS) has confirmed that despite recent layoffs, The Elder Scrolls Online (ESO) will continue to receive new content. The game director outlined upcoming changes for 2026 and 2027, with some highly anticipated updates delayed to prioritize quality over deadlines. Update 51, launching on September 28, will introduce a new challenge and game system, along with various improvements. Season two, starting on October 21, will bring solo dungeons and other enhancements.

In 2027, players can expect the Crimson Veldt trial with mounted combat, requiring additional development time for an optimal experience. Update 52, scheduled for January 2027, will include the Jerall Pass PvP zone and Skyrim's Dynamic Encounters: Rimegales. The Class and Combat refresh is also planned for 2027 to enhance player experience.
