A new, fan-made map for Valve's free shooter Counter-Strike 2 has a unique spin on the game's popular Hostage Rescue mode, having players instead rescue dogs in danger.

A fan-made map called 'Shelter' for Counter-Strike 2 introduces a twist to the traditional Hostage Rescue mode by tasking players with saving dogs from a fictionalized suburban animal shelter. The map, meticulously designed with indoor and outdoor areas, showcases detailed features like 'kennel cards' for the dogs and grim sections where animals are subjected to medical experiments.

In gameplay, players are shown rescuing dogs and carrying them to safety, with one team aiming to save the dogs while the other team tries to impede their progress. Counter-Strike 2 currently boasts over 1 million concurrent players, solidifying its position as Steam's most popular game.

The release of the Shelter map follows a real-life event where more than 1,500 beagles were rescued from a medical research facility, emphasizing heartwarming stories of these dogs finding new homes.
