N+ Devs Introduce Multiplayer in N+ Infinity Times Two

Mario will forever be the preeminent face of the platformer genre, but for as much as I've loved the series, there's no doubt about what one platformer I'd pick to be stuck with on a desert island: N++. The definitive 2015 version of the long-running N series was a true accomplishment; it's staggering both in terms of the quality and depth of its platforming action, and the sheer scope of the game itself, featuring thousands of hand-crafted levels, plus a level creator.

Metanet Software, the developers behind N++, are venturing into multiplayer with their latest installment, N+ Infinity Times Two. Mare Sheppard and Raigan Burns, the minds behind the N series, acknowledge the challenge of surpassing the excellence of N++ and have decided to explore multiplayer as the next frontier. The game retains the exceptional platforming mechanics and minimalist visuals of its predecessor, leveraging a cutting-edge vector-rendering system.

While single-player has been the hallmark of the N series, the addition of multiplayer modes in N+ Infinity Times Two is a significant departure. The game offers a mix of co-op and competitive modes, drawing inspiration from titles like TowerFall, Rocket League, and Super Smash Bros. The developers aim to maintain a balance between new and familiar modes, ensuring a fresh yet authentic experience for players.

Metanet plans to continue supporting the game post-launch with new levels and content, emphasizing quality over quantity. The multiplayer focus is expected to open up new avenues for level design and gameplay interactions, promising a dynamic and engaging experience for both casual and competitive players.

The introduction of multiplayer in N+ Infinity Times Two marks a strategic shift for Metanet Software, offering players a fresh perspective on the acclaimed N series and setting the stage for innovative gameplay possibilities.
