Mortal Kombat 2 is in theaters now and it's making millions at the box office, but will there be a third entry in the new series based on the popular video game franchise?

A report mentioned that Mortal Kombat writer Jeremy Slater might return for a third movie, although there is no official confirmation yet. Director Simon McQuoid expressed cautious optimism, stating he doesn't want to appear overly confident about the possibility of a third film. Slater revealed that he is close to completing a new draft for the script of the potential third movie, pending approval from New Line.

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Slater emphasized the importance of not being presumptuous about the outcome of the movie and the need for thoughtful consideration and planning before moving forward.
