Minecraft Coming to Switch 2 with Enhanced Features

Today, Nintendo announced that Minecraft will be coming to Switch 2 in 2026, with improvements over its Switch 1 counterpart.

The Switch 2 supports backwards compatibility, allowing Minecraft to be playable on the console since launch. The upcoming version for Switch 2 will introduce enhanced lighting and shadow effects, promising an improved gaming experience for players on the latest console. The ESRB classification database recently rated the game for Switch 2, hinting at its imminent release. Nintendo Direct also revealed that players can transfer their progress from Switch 1 to Switch 2, ensuring a seamless transition for existing owners. Although an exact release date is yet to be announced, the game is expected to be available before the end of 2026.
