MindsEye Developers to Protest All-Expenses-Paid Playtest Day

MindsEye developers who have lost their jobs will protest outside the studio’s office over what they have described as an “all-expenses-paid playtest day.”

The IWGB Game Workers Union, representing fired GTA 6 developers, will hold a protest outside Build a Rocket Boy’s Edinburgh office this Saturday. The union accuses BARB of flying in fans for a playtest event amidst layoffs and disputes over employee surveillance. Around 20 people, including laid-off workers and supporters, are expected to attend.

BARB defended the event as part of engaging with creators and receiving feedback. This protest follows BARB's troubled release of MindsEye, leading to layoffs and promises to fix game issues. MindsEye, a story-driven action adventure game, struggled post-launch, with attempts to revive it failing to gain traction.

In a recent statement, Take-Two's CEO acknowledged the challenges in creating hits in the industry, hinting at BARB's difficulties. The future of MindsEye and BARB remains uncertain amidst ongoing struggles in the gaming market.
