In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Flanagan expressed that The Dark Tower is proving to be one of the most challenging projects he has tackled, with the approval process being significantly more complex than anything he has faced before. While Flanagan's current focus is on his Carrie TV show adaptation for Amazon Prime Video, he remains hopeful that Prime Video might support The Dark Tower in the future.

Flanagan envisions a grand plan for The Dark Tower, consisting of five seasons followed by two standalone movies.
