Mike Flanagan Struggles to Get Green Light for The Dark Tower TV

Mike Flanagan has been facing challenges in getting approval for his long-awaited The Dark Tower TV series adaptation, despite having Stephen King's endorsement for the Season 1 script.

Renowned for his work on Netflix horror hits like The Haunting series, Mike Flanagan has been endeavoring to bring Stephen King's beloved fantasy epic, The Dark Tower, to the small screen. Despite King's approval of the Season 1 script, Flanagan is encountering obstacles in securing the necessary approvals to kickstart production on what he considers his passion project.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Flanagan expressed that The Dark Tower is proving to be one of the most challenging projects he has tackled, with the approval process being significantly more complex than anything he has faced before. While Flanagan's current focus is on his Carrie TV show adaptation for Amazon Prime Video, he remains hopeful that Prime Video might support The Dark Tower in the future.

Flanagan envisions a grand plan for The Dark Tower, consisting of five seasons followed by two standalone movies. However, the uncertainty surrounding the project's realization lingers, leaving both fans and Flanagan himself eager for a positive outcome, especially considering the lukewarm reception to the 2017 film adaptation.
