Microsoft Sells Undead Labs and Ninja Theory Studios

As part of Microsoft's restructuring announcement, the company is selling off Undead Labs and Ninja Theory to mystery buyers. The studios will join new ownership to complete their respective games.

Microsoft has announced the sale of Undead Labs and Ninja Theory as part of its Xbox restructuring. The two studios have entered agreements with undisclosed buyers to secure funding for the completion of their projects. Ninja Theory is working on the new Hellblade game, while Undead Labs is developing State of Decay 3.

In addition to the studio sales, Compulsion Games and Double Fine are regaining their independence under Microsoft. They will maintain ownership of their intellectual properties and receive funding for their upcoming titles. Microsoft's Arkane studio in France is also undergoing consultations to explore strategic options.

Microsoft's restructuring efforts include laying off 1,600 Xbox employees immediately and another 1,600 within the next year. The company is implementing a total of 4,800 job cuts across its operations, citing the evolving business landscape as the reason for the layoffs.
