UK-based Maverick Games has revealed its debut project, Clutch, which it describes as a “cinematic open-world action-driving game.”
Clutch, led by former Forza Horizon 5 creative director Mike Brown, is set to launch in Spring 2027 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. The game's story will revolve around sibling driving prodigies navigating a prestigious racing tournament, R1K, and an underground car community named Midnight Collective. The unveiling of Clutch's story, actors, and world is scheduled for the Summer Game Fest Showcase on June 5.
Developed on a custom version of Unreal Engine 5, Clutch promises a living PvPvE action-driving world with extensive vehicle customization options. Players can expect realistic car details, including signs of wear and human elements like coffee cups and receipts in the vehicles. Maverick Games, founded in 2022 by Brown and other Forza Horizon veterans, aims to bring a fresh perspective to the genre with Clutch.
The team, currently around 140 people, remains independent and is focused on creating an innovative and open studio environment. Maverick Games' debut project, Clutch, is poised to offer a unique and immersive experience within the racing genre.
