Marvel's Wolverine Trailer Receives Backlash Amid PlayStation Disc

Insomniac Games attempted to drum up excitement when it published a new cinematic trailer for Marvel's Wolverine yesterday, but it soon became flooded with negative comments from fans who haven't forgiven Sony after it announced plans to cease production of physical discs for PlayStation games.

The 'Ain't No Hero' trailer for Marvel's Wolverine garnered over 1 million views on YouTube and nearly 5,000 comments. Despite showcasing Lady Deathstrike and hinting at a Logan and Sabretooth team-up, fans expressed frustration towards Sony's decision to discontinue physical game discs.

Many comments on the YouTube page referenced Sony's move to eliminate physical discs by 2028. This backlash is particularly evident on the video's comment section, usually a platform for fan feedback. Comparatively, previous trailers for Marvel's Spider-Man games received positive reactions, unlike Wolverine's trailer.

Marvel's Wolverine, set to release as a PS5 exclusive on September 15, 2026, will be among the last first-party titles with a physical release before disc production ends in January 2028. The controversy has dampened some excitement around the game's launch as fans voice their disapproval of Sony's shift towards digital-only gaming.
