Magic: The Gathering Reveals The Hobbit Expansion Cards

Among the flurry of announcements presented at MagicCon Amsterdam was the debut of The Hobbit, Magic: The Gathering’s next expansion and a return to the universe of J.R.R. Tolkien.

At MagicCon Amsterdam, The Hobbit expansion for Magic: The Gathering was unveiled, marking a return to J.R.R. Tolkien's universe. As the set's August release approaches, preview season is in full swing. GameSpot exclusively revealed two new Rare cards from the main Hobbit set.

The first card, 'Part In Friendship,' is a green enchantment that triggers when a nontoken creature you control dies, allowing you to put a creature from your library onto the battlefield if its mana value matches your land count. The second card, 'The Master of Lake-town,' is a Legendary Creature that mills cards whenever a player loses life and draws cards upon its death, making it a strategic addition to mill decks.

The Hobbit expansion for Magic: The Gathering is set to launch on August 14 in local game stores and major retailers, with prerelease events scheduled to begin on August 7.
