Lizzy Caplan Joins FX's Far Cry TV Series

FX's upcoming adaptation of Far Cry has cast Lizzy Caplan, who is best known for Freaks and Geeks, Mean Girls, and Cloverfield.

Last year, FX and Ubisoft confirmed that Noah Hawley (showrunner of Fargo and Alien: Earth) will helm an adaptation of Far Cry. The show will be an anthology series with each season telling a new story with a new cast, not unlike the games. Details on the first season are scarce, but a unique location and a psychotic villain are expected. Caplan's role is undisclosed, and she will act alongside Rob Mac from It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia, who will also executive-produce the series. Hawley praised Far Cry's storytelling potential due to its anthology structure. He expressed excitement about the creative opportunities the show offers. However, Hawley faced criticism earlier this year for comments undermining the storytelling in games. His remarks sparked a debate, with Alex Hutchinson, director of Far Cry 4, defending the value of game narratives. The premiere date for Far Cry is unknown, and production has yet to start. The casting news indicates progress, though. Ubisoft is also developing a new Far Cry game, details of which are awaited.
