LEGO Unveils Minas Tirith, the Largest Lord of the Rings Set Yet

LEGO has announced a major new addition to its line of sets based on The Lord of the Rings. This time it’s Minas Tirith, and it's the biggest LotR LEGO set yet (see it at the LEGO Store).

LEGO has revealed Minas Tirith as the newest and largest set in The Lord of the Rings collection. Known as the White City, Minas Tirith is the capital of Gondor and the iconic setting for the Battle of the Pelennor Fields in The Return of the King. With an impressive 8,278 pieces, this set stands as one of the largest LEGO sets ever created, priced at $649.99. It is scheduled to launch on June 1 for LEGO Insiders and on June 4 for the general public.

To accurately depict the grandeur of the city while incorporating recognizable structures, the set combines microscale and minifigure-scale elements in its design. The expansive cityscape and outer walls are crafted in microscale, while interiors such as the Citadel’s throne room are designed to accommodate the minifigures. The set includes 10 minifigures, featuring characters like Gandalf the White, Aragorn as King Elessar, and more, each equipped with various accessories like Gondor helmets and shields.

This Minas Tirith set marks the largest LEGO Lord of the Rings set to date, ranking as the fourth largest set overall, following the Eiffel Tower, Titanic, and Death Star sets. As a customary offering, buyers will receive a free Gift With Purchase, the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Grond (set 40893), a representation of the wolf-head battering ram from the Battle of Pelennor Fields. This release commemorates the 25th anniversary of The Fellowship of the Ring, the first film in The Lord of the Rings trilogy.
