LA Noire Could Have Had a Different Lead Actor

The 2011 detective game LA Noire starred Aaron Staton as Cole Phelps, but Jon Hamm was considered for the role as well, according to a writer on the game.

The game's writer, Daniel McMahon, revealed that Jon Hamm, known for his role in Mad Men, was discussed as a potential lead for LA Noire. McMahon explained that while Hamm is a talented actor, Aaron Staton was better suited to portray Cole Phelps' fragility in the game. LA Noire, developed by Team Bondi and published by Rockstar Games, was released in 2011 for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC, with a later release on Switch, PS4, and Xbox One. Despite its success, a sequel has not materialized yet.

Take-Two Interactive's CEO, Strauss Zelnick, mentioned that they are considering future projects for all their franchises, including LA Noire. However, any potential sequel would not involve Team Bondi, as the studio closed down amidst controversy over working conditions. The studio's assets, including their next project 'Whore of the Orient,' were acquired by film production company Kennedy Miller Mitchell.
