John Romero, the co-founder of id Software and co-creator of Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein 3D, has been confirmed as the headline keynote speaker for this year's Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show, to be held in Bangkok this October.
John Romero, known for his work on iconic games like Doom, Quake, and Wolfenstein 3D, will be delivering the headline keynote at Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show in Bangkok this October. His speech, titled 'Why We Still Make Games,' will delve into his extensive experience in game development and the challenges faced in the industry over the years.
Despite leaving id Software decades ago, Romero recently showed support for the studio's staff affected by layoffs. His own studio, Romero Games, also faced setbacks due to funding cuts. Romero will be sharing insights and experiences at the event, which promises to be the biggest yet, featuring major publishers and indie developers showcasing their work.
Other speakers at the event include industry veterans from AdHoc Studio and Roblox, with more to be confirmed. Last year's event saw keynotes from Ubisoft and Naughty Dog developers, as well as a notable address from Glen Schofield. Gamescom Asia x Thailand Game Show 2026 is scheduled for October 29 to November 1 at the Queen Sirikit National Convention Center in Bangkok.
