Japanese Theme Park Offers Alice in Borderland Escape Room Experience

A theme park in Japan is introducing an escape room experience where participants wear a 'bomb collar' that administers a real electric shock.

Alice in Borderland: Immersive Death Game, a new attraction at Huis Ten Bosch theme park in Nagasaki, Japan, is inspired by the Netflix series of the same name. Scheduled to open on August 27, 2026, the experience mirrors the intense battle royale-style games depicted in the show. Participants will engage in a Heart challenge, testing their emotional resilience, and must complete the game within a 30-minute time limit while wearing a 'Bomb Collar' akin to the one in the Jack of Hearts game.

Strict safety measures are in place for the attraction, restricting participation to individuals aged 15 and above. People with specific health conditions like blood pressure problems or pacemakers are prohibited from joining. Each player is required to sign an agreement before taking part. Participation is complimentary with a 'Passport' ticket to the park, but those interested in the Alice in Borderland experience must reserve a same-day timeslot ticket online.

Huis Ten Bosch, Japan's largest theme park, is known for its Dutch-inspired architecture reflecting Nagasaki's historical trade ties with the Netherlands. The park, which opened in the late 1980s, has been collaborating with various franchises in recent years, such as introducing attractions based on popular anime like Evangelion and beloved characters like Miffy from Dutch children's books.
