Hololive Dreams: Combining RPG Mechanics with Rhythm Gameplay

Hololive Dreams is a rhythm game, but it’s not JUST a rhythm game. Based in the popular virtual VTuber agency hololive, which consists of dozens of digital influencers streaming everything from video games to concerts, hololive Dreams aims to attract players who might not be familiar with (or fans of) music-based gameplay.

Hololive Dreams, released on July 23, is a rhythm game set in the virtual VTuber agency hololive. It incorporates RPG elements to appeal to a wider audience beyond music-based gameplay enthusiasts. The game takes place on a virtual island where players build a theme park, complete quests, and engage with over 150 songs and 50 virtual talents.

The development team behind hololive Dreams focused on creating a game with a larger scale than traditional rhythm games. By blending RPG mechanics with rhythm gameplay, they aimed to provide a more engaging experience for players, even those not typically interested in music-based games. The inclusion of mini-games and a variety of genres adds depth to the overall gameplay experience.

With an extensive lineup of over 150 songs, including covers and original tracks from hololive talents, the game competes in Japan's competitive rhythm game market. Each playable character in the game features two songs, with a mix of originals and covers to cater to different preferences. The team collaborated closely with hololive VTubers to curate a balanced selection of music that resonates with the Japanese audience.

Events in hololive Dreams will be a regular feature, primarily tailored towards mobile players despite the game's availability on PC. These events will focus on character development and live concerts within the game, offering players a competitive platform to showcase their progress. As the game evolves, new areas within the theme park setting will be introduced, highlighting different talents and providing a fresh experience for players.

Hololive Dreams is now accessible on iOS, Android, and PC/Steam platforms, offering a unique blend of rhythm and RPG gameplay set in the vibrant world of hololive VTubers.
