Hideo Kojima recently discussed his upcoming horror game OD, emphasizing its innovative gameplay and a special feature for players who may find it too frightening. The concept for OD originated during the development of Death Stranding, with Kojima aiming to deliver a fresh and distinct gaming experience. Despite facing skepticism from various publishers, the game was greenlit by Xbox, with former Xbox head Phil Spencer championing the project.
OD, a single-player horror game, is designed to be intensely scary, although Kojima has devised a system to assist players who may become too frightened to continue. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma praised OD as a deeply emotional and groundbreaking game that pushes the boundaries of traditional gaming experiences. She highlighted Xbox's commitment to fostering a diverse range of developers, with the hope of nurturing future visionary creators like Kojima.
In addition to its innovative gameplay, OD boasts a star-studded cast including Sophia Lillis, Hunter Schafer, and the late Udo Kier. Alongside OD, Kojima is also working on the espionage title Phsyint for Sony.
