Hayley Atwell Discusses Steve Rogers Holding a Baby Trailer

The Marvel star shed a little more light on the trailer that showed Steve Rogers holding a baby, and it only made things more confusing.

We had the opportunity to interview Atwell following her appearance at San Diego Comic Con, where we inquired about the teaser and its implications for her and Rogers’ narrative. Atwell shared, “Whether that is reality or a dream or fantasy or a warning, who knows? But the image of that, the symbolism of that, shows the beating heart of this story is human relationships. The stakes could not be higher when the family is threatened or the family is in danger. …But it’s essentially about people loving each other.” While this doesn’t provide a definitive answer, it does raise the possibility that the idyllic life Steve is seen living might be a mere dream. Is this a glimpse into an alternate future for Cap, or is it something real?

One noteworthy detail is a statement from Victor Von Doom in a Doomsday clip exhibited during the 2026 Hall H panel on the same night, where the renowned comic villain remarked, “All of you... have stolen lives. But now, you must give them back.” A voiceover by Sue Storm in that clip also mentioned, “Victor was always the smartest guy. He used to be kind, he used to be caring. Everything he loved was taken from him. He was broken.” It appears increasingly probable that Doom’s motive in this film is to inflict suffering on his adversaries and make them lose what they cherish most… which in this instance could be Steve’s newfound family.

Currently, many questions remain unanswered, and little else was revealed regarding Doomsday at the Hall H panel. It appears that Marvel is keeping details tightly under wraps until the Doomsday clock reaches December 18, 2026.
