Hasbro Cancels Dungeons & Dragons Game from Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

Hasbro has canceled a new Dungeons & Dragons game from director Stig Asmussen, known for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and God of War 3. The cancellation was confirmed by both Hasbro and developer Giant Skull.

Despite the cancellation, Giant Skull, the developer, remains operational. Asmussen expressed his positive experience with Hasbro's Wizards of the Coast and is open to future collaborations with them or other publishers. The Dungeons & Dragons game by Giant Skull was announced in June but has now been axed. The project was meant to be an action/adventure title within the Dungeons & Dragons universe, representing a significant moment for both companies.

Reasons for the cancellation are not clear, but fans hope for a strong comeback from Giant Skull with a new project. Meanwhile, Wizards of the Coast is gearing up for the launch of Exodus, a highly anticipated sci-fi game set for release in 2027, expected to be a major highlight of the year.

Asmussen, known for his work on successful Star Wars games, departed from Respawn Entertainment in 2023. While many anticipated his return for the third Star Wars Jedi game, Asmussen is exploring different opportunities. With a background in the action/adventure genre, he played key roles in the original God of War trilogy. His move to Respawn led to the creation of two acclaimed Star Wars games post-Disney acquisition. Although a third Star Wars Jedi game is in progress, details remain scarce, leaving fans to speculate on a potential 2027 release.
