Halo Trailer Pulled from State of Play, Report Claims

A Halo trailer was supposed to air during the recent PlayStation State of Play event, but Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and her team decided to yank it, according to a report.

A recent report suggests that a Halo trailer meant for the PlayStation State of Play event was pulled by Xbox CEO Asha Sharma and her team, potentially straining the relationship between Xbox and PlayStation. While details about the trailer were scarce, it was speculated to be for Halo: Campaign Evolved, set to release in July. Microsoft and Sony later released a trailer for the game, featuring footage from PlayStation 5 Pro.

Fans speculate that the released trailer was originally intended for State of Play, although this hasn't been confirmed. Campaign Evolved marks the first appearance of the Halo franchise on a PlayStation platform, hinting at potential future releases. Despite commitments to release the game on PS5, questions remain about Microsoft's future plans for Halo on PlayStation.

Additionally, reports indicate that a PS5 version of Gears of War: E-Day was in development but got canceled by Sharma, surprising many Xbox employees. Layoffs at Xbox are expected in July, with rumors of a potential studio closure. Sharma hinted at upcoming changes to the Xbox studio system in a staff memo, aiming to 'reset the business' amidst evolving content strategies.
