GTA 6 Sees Record Orders on Xbox, Microsoft Responds

Microsoft responds to a report on GTA 6 preorders, emphasizing the need for official data over unofficial information.

Microsoft has addressed reports on GTA 6 preorders, disputing claims of a significant gap between Xbox and PlayStation numbers. The company stated that the early third-party data circulating was not representative of actual preorder figures. The response follows an IGN report suggesting that GTA 6 preorders were surpassing Xbox preorders by an 8 to 1 margin, based on affiliate link data from IGN's userbase. However, Microsoft clarified that this data was not from Rockstar or Take-Two and did not provide a complete overview of the preorder situation.

Despite the unofficial nature of the data, the story gained traction, prompting Microsoft to release a statement. With GTA 6 set for release in November, the game has garnered significant preorder interest. Given the higher number of PlayStation consoles in the market and the marketing partnership between Rockstar and PlayStation for GTA 6, it's understandable that PS5 preorders are outpacing Xbox. The game is anticipated to have a monumental launch, potentially setting new records. Fans are eagerly awaiting official preorder details from Rockstar or Take-Two, as preorders for the game opened on June 25 for PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Although GTA 6 is a digital-exclusive title, ensuring ample stock, some individuals are already attempting to sell their preorders on eBay at premium prices. The game is scheduled to launch on November 19, offering both a standard edition priced at $80 and an ultimate edition with exclusive content for $100.
