Rockstar Games' support page recently revealed that Japanese players will need to redeem the GTA 6 product code within 170 days of the game's launch date, November 19, 2026, due to regional regulations. This restriction is unique to Japan, with other regions not facing a similar time limit for code redemption.
The decision to limit the code's validity to less than six months has sparked discussions, with comparisons made to various things that last as long or longer than 170 days, including the shelf life of honey, academic school years, and even the duration of some tourist seasons.
While the expiration policy is exclusive to Japan at the moment, it's an interesting twist to consider GTA 6 as having a 'best-before' date. Rockstar Games has not yet provided further details on this matter.
