Sony's Santa Monica Studio has confirmed that the highly anticipated game, God of War Laufey, will be available on a disc, leading to speculation about its release date. With Sony's disc phaseout set for 2028, many believe Laufey could launch before then. Journalist Jason Schreier has hinted at a February or March 2027 release for Laufey.
Additionally, Marvel's Wolverine, another major PS5 title, will also be released on a disc. Unlike previous God of War games, Laufey shifts focus to Kratos' wife, Faye, accompanied by a character played by Jack Quaid. Sony's decision to move away from physical discs has sparked discussions about the future of gaming, with theories suggesting Xbox's Project Helix may follow suit in the future.
