Until now, Kratos was the primary star of every God of War game. However, his late wife, Faye, is taking the spotlight in God of War Laufey. But when Faye picks up her sword, veteran God of War fans may recognize the influence that the original Greek trilogy had on her fighting style.
God of War Laufey director Ariel Lawrence shared that the team couldn't simply use Kratos animations for Faye due to the differences in their characters. Drawing inspiration from the Greek era, where Kratos had a more acrobatic nature, helped shape Faye's combat style. The development team, including individuals who worked on the original trilogy, explored how to adapt and expand on previous concepts.
In the upcoming game, Faye will be accompanied by Phranque, a talking gelatinous cube voiced by Jack Quaid, and Rue, a ribbon attached to her new sword voiced by Perlina Lau. Deborah Ann Woll will reprise her role as Faye from God of War: Ragnarok. While Kratos won't be the main focus in God of War Laufey, Sony Santa Monica has assured fans that more stories about him are on the horizon. The game is set to release on PlayStation 5, with no confirmed launch date yet.
