God of War Laufey: Exploring Faye's Story in the Franchise

The next God of War title, God of War Laufey, will delve into the story of Kratos' late wife, Faye, in the afterlife of the gods.

The upcoming God of War title, God of War Laufey, is a spin-off focusing on Kratos' late wife, Faye. The game will explore Faye's story in the afterlife of the gods, following the events of the 2018 God of War. Santa Monica Studio's creative director, Cory Barlog, shared insights during an interview with IGN, hinting that the narratives of the 2018 game and Laufey will unfold simultaneously.

In God of War, Kratos believed Faye was guiding him from beyond the grave. It is expected that God of War Laufey will depict Faye's attempts to connect with her husband despite the metaphysical barriers between them. Additionally, Faye will face her own challenges in the afterlife, accompanied by new characters like Rue and Phranque.

Sony Santa Monica has confirmed more Kratos stories beyond Laufey, with a remake of the original God of War trilogy in development and a live-action TV series for Prime Video. While God of War Laufey is set for release on PlayStation 5, no official launch date has been announced yet.
