Gears of War: E-Day Focuses on Mobility and Introduces Chainsaw

During the Xbox Games Showcase, Microsoft announced that Gears of War: E-Day will launch on October 3.

The upcoming game, co-developed by The Coalition and People Can Fly, is set to release on Xbox Series X|S and PC platforms, excluding PlayStation 5. Xbox CEO Asha Sharma confirmed this during the showcase. The event also featured new gameplay footage, showcasing Marcus Fenix engaging in intense battles against various Locust enemies. The game introduces enhanced mobility abilities, such as sliding, while retaining classic Gears of War features like active reload, cover systems, and the iconic chainsaw.

Gears of War: E-Day serves as a prequel, focusing on Emergence Day in the game's lore when the Locust first surfaced. Fans will be pleased to know that the original voice actors for Marcus and Dom are returning. Initially planned for PS5, the game became exclusive to Xbox consoles following Microsoft's decision to prioritize platform exclusivity.
