During a recent interview, Cohen shared his vision of creating a platform for in-game digital items on eBay, leveraging the market gap he identified. He emphasized the utility of video game in-game items compared to physical collectibles like art and trading cards. Cohen believes that eBay could tap into a significant market by offering liquidity for digital gaming items, a space largely untapped by existing platforms.

While platforms like Player Auctions and Gameflip provide similar services, Cohen sees eBay's scale and brand recognition as key advantages in this venture. He envisions a marketplace where players can trade in-game items from popular titles like Call of Duty and Fortnite, potentially requiring developers' support. Cohen aims to address a market that the state of New York estimated to be over $4 billion by 2025, focusing on the ease of liquidating digital items through third-party platforms.

In addition to the digital items marketplace, Cohen plans to implement massive cost-cutting measures at eBay to boost earnings, similar to his strategy at GameStop. He also intends to expand eBay's presence in 'live commerce,' a trend popular in Asia and on platforms like TikTok. Cohen's ambitious bid for eBay includes a personal investment of $500 million, demonstrating his commitment to realizing his vision for the platform.
