Forza Horizon 5 set the franchise record for highest peak concurrent-player count on Steam with 81,096 back on November 13, 2021, which was the first Saturday after the game launched on November 9. Forza Horizon 6, meanwhile, hit a high watermark of 172,093 players on May 15, doubling up the franchise high. Forza Horizon 4 made its way to Steam in March 2021, peaking at 75,689 concurrent players. The game faced issues at launch and was delisted from Steam in 2024.
The only current way to play Forza Horizon 6 is by purchasing the $120 premium edition or paying an extra $60 for an upgrade. The standard version priced at $70 will be available on May 19, along with access for Game Pass Ultimate and PC Game Pass members. Subscribers to these tiers can opt for the $60 premium edition upgrade for immediate access. With the game's gradual rollout, player numbers on Steam and Xbox are expected to rise, although total player numbers may not directly translate to sales due to Game Pass subscriptions.
Looking ahead, Forza Horizon 6 is set to arrive on PlayStation 5 later this year, anticipating an influx of new players. GameSpot's review praised the game for having the 'best Forza Horizon map to date,' according to reviewer Mark Delaney.
