Expendabelles All-Female Spinoff of The Expendables Returns

Expendabelles, the “female-driven” spinoff of The Expendables, is officially back on a decade after the first attempt to get it off the ground crashed and burned.

The Expendables franchise, led by Sylvester Stallone, started in 2010 with the first movie. Eclectic Pictures and Hollywood Ventures Group are now reviving Expendabelles to tell an origin story set in the late ‘90s with a new generation of elite female operatives. Casting details and release date are yet to be revealed, but the project aims to bring a fresh, action-packed experience to audiences globally.

Stallone had previously pondered the challenges of creating a female-centric spinoff, questioning the lineup and dynamics. The Expendabelles project, initially planned for 2015, faced setbacks and delays, leading to its eventual cancellation. As for The Expendables 5, its future remains uncertain following the disappointing performance of Expend4bles.

Lionsgate's acquisition of The Expendables franchise raises questions about the potential for a new sequel and Stallone's involvement. The studio's recent deal also includes the upcoming John Rambo movie featuring Noah Centineo, hinting at possible franchise expansions or reboots.
