Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine - Master Crafted Edition looks set for PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2, having launched on PC, Xbox Series X and S, and straight into Xbox Game Pass in June last year.
The ESRB's listing initially included PS5 and Switch 2 for the game, but the mention of these consoles has been removed. Sega, the rights holder of the original third-person shooter developed by Relic Entertainment, is responsible for this release. The Master Crafted Edition, developed by SneakyBox, features 4K resolution, modernized controls, interface overhaul, improved character models, and remastered audio with over 100 new voice lines for the Orks.
Despite its enhancements, the Master Crafted Edition faced criticism from fans, especially on Steam, for its high price compared to the Anniversary Edition and perceived usability issues. This led to negative feedback and accusations of being a 'cash grab.' Sega responded by offering extended refund policies, upgrade discounts, and a patch roadmap, resulting in improved user reviews from 'Mostly Negative' to 'Mixed.'
With the game's expansion to new platforms, fans hope for significant updates, especially since the last updates were in September last year. The success of the original game led to the creation of Space Marine 2 in 2024, with Space Marine 3 currently in development.
