Embark Studios Testing PvE-Only Mode in Arc Raiders Chinese Beta

If a new map condition in Arc Raiders' Chinese beta is any indication, developer Embark Studios may be testing the waters for a widespread PvE-only mode in its popular extraction shooter.

Embark Studios seems to be experimenting with a PvE-only mode in the Chinese beta of Arc Raiders. The beta version includes various modes focused on PvE, such as the 'Rebellion Incident,' where shooting another player leads to immediate consequences. These modes, known as map conditions, are part of rotating events that introduce new modifications to maps and rules for a limited time.

In 'Rebellion Incident,' PvP is disabled by default, requiring players to declare themselves hostile before attacking others. Another mode introduces a King or Queen alongside a Matriarch, encouraging players to collaborate against the chaos. While players can still eliminate each other, the emphasis on cooperative play tests community reactions to intense PvE threats.

Embark Studios has not confirmed plans to introduce these PvE-centric modes globally, suggesting they might be exclusive to the beta for testing purposes. The developer could also be assessing interest in cooperative gameplay modes. With the Arc Raiders community divided between PvE and PvP preferences, the potential addition of PvE modes in the main game remains uncertain.
