EA is expanding its offerings for EA Sports FC 27 with a new $150 'Ultimate Plus' edition, alongside the standard $70 and 'Ultimate' editions. The 'Ultimate Plus' version includes four premium season passes, 10,000 FC Points, player boosts, a Hall of FUT Player Pick, and more. Players who opt for this edition can start playing seven days early, a feature becoming more common in the gaming industry.

EA's move to introduce this premium edition comes amidst criticism over hidden progression and pay-to-win mechanics in EA Sports FC games. While EA removed a controversial microtransaction system from EA Sports College Football, microtransactions still play a significant role in the popular Ultimate Team mode. Concerns also linger regarding potential increased monetization if EA's sale to investors, including Saudi Arabia’s Public Investment Fund, goes through, potentially leading to significant changes within the company's game studios.
