EA CEO Receives $30 Million Increase in Compensation

When Saudi Arabia's leveraged buyout of Electronic Arts is finalized, the newly private company won't have to release any financial documents to the public.

Electronic Arts' latest financial disclosure has unveiled that CEO Andrew Wilson saw a substantial $30 million boost in his compensation this year, with other EA executives also benefiting. Wilson's compensation package in the previous fiscal year surged by $8 million to reach $38 million, including bonus payments and stock options. The report highlights a 305-1 ratio between Wilson's $38 million payout and the $126,612 annual total compensation of EA's median employee.

The disclosure also revealed that Wilson exclusively travels on private planes for safety reasons, citing threat intelligence. Other EA executives with sky-high salaries include President of EA Entertainment Laura Miele at $13.7 million, Chief Financial Officer Stuart Canfield at $11.3 million, Chief Legal Officer Jake Schatz at $8.4 million, and Chief People Officer Mala Singh at $8.3 million. These figures encompass bonus payments and stock options. The report also praised EA's successful AI strategy implementation and the financial performance of Battlefield 6. Despite this, EA faced layoffs earlier this year across all four studios under the Battlefield Studios umbrella, justified as a realignment. Miele emphasized that the company's AI utilization has sparked a notable surge in creativity among developers. Furthermore, EA's acquisition by Saudi Arabia's Public Investment Fund has overcome a significant obstacle with the European Commission's approval, though the deal is yet to be finalized.
