Techland has decided to cancel the release of Dying Light: The Beast on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One due to the technical limitations of the older consoles. The game, which was well-received on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X and S, was not feasible to optimize for the older generation. The studio cited the need for compromises that would hinder the intended experience for players on the older platforms.
In a detailed statement, Techland explained that the game was designed to leverage the capabilities of current-generation hardware, making it challenging to adapt for the PS4 and Xbox One. Players who were anticipating the release on these consoles will be eligible for refunds as a result of this decision.
Despite this setback, Techland recently announced a new version of the game, Dying Light: The Beast Restored Land, which includes additional content. The future plans for the Dying Light franchise remain undisclosed, but Techland has confirmed its ongoing work on a fantasy game.
