The studio, known for creating Life is Strange, released a spiritual successor titled Lost Records: Bloom & Rage in February 2025, which failed to meet expectations. Despite a series of recent game releases like Harmony: The Fall of Reverie, Jusant, Banishers: Ghosts of New Eden, and Aphelion, the company has struggled to find a commercial hit.
Don't Nod's financial report highlighted the urgent need for new investment, with the company having only five months of capital left. While the studio is partially owned by Tencent, the auditors revealed that Tencent is no longer interested in providing short-term funds. Don't Nod's management is actively exploring various avenues to improve the cash position, including seeking external financing or a capital increase for their upcoming game.
Potential solutions being considered include securing funding from a major partner, advancing the release of their next game to early 2027, or engaging staff in subcontracting work.
