Dispatch players on Switch consoles can grab a new 'HR Violations Pack' patch for the game--one that spices things up by removing some of the game's censorship.
Developer AdHoc has released the 'HR Violations Pack' patch for Dispatch on Switch, offering players in the US, Europe, Australia, and New Zealand the option to remove certain censorship in the game. The patch allows players to view 'breasts, butts, and birds (AKA, obscene gestures)' by replacing the original black bars with a mosaic filter or John Cena-inspired jorts. While some strict Nintendo guidelines remain in place, overt genitalia and certain erotic audio effects are still restricted.
AdHoc explained that due to time constraints during the original Switch release, a single build complying with Nintendo's strictest regional rating led to excessive censorship. The studio acknowledged the disappointment of Switch players who preordered based on uncensored previews from other platforms and apologized for the oversight. The success of Dispatch has enabled the development of a more player-friendly version, with the new censorship options also planned for other platforms and the upcoming Xbox release.
Despite the initial backlash over censorship, Dispatch received critical acclaim and may see a Season 2 following its positive reception. AdHoc's efforts to address player concerns and provide a more tailored experience for Switch users reflect a commitment to improving the game's accessibility and player satisfaction.
