The upcoming Death Stranding movie from Backrooms studio A24 and director Michael Sarnoski remains in development. Director Sarnoski provided an update on the script's progress, mentioning that it is almost done.

Director Michael Sarnoski, who is also writing the script for the Death Stranding movie, revealed to IGN that he is close to completing it. Producer Hideo Kojima has reviewed drafts and provided feedback, ensuring the story aligns with the game. Sarnoski expressed excitement about the collaborative process, aiming to create a film that resonates with fans while introducing new elements.

Aside from the live-action adaptation, a Death Stranding animated movie is also in development as part of expanding the franchise's universe. Meanwhile, Hideo Kojima, known for his cinematic approach to game design, has shifted focus to other projects like OD and Physint, indicating no direct involvement in Death Stranding 3.
