Dbrand has officially launched its Companion Cube case inspired by the iconic game Portal for the Steam Machine. The case boasts rear and bottom ventilation, front panels for easy access to ports, and a slot cutout for the LED strip. Both front and back panels are removable for maintenance purposes. The product is available in two versions: the 'Companion Cube' priced at $129.99, which includes special edition packaging and themed accessories, and the 'Poverty Cube' priced at $99.95, packaged in a simple cardboard box. The Companion Cube edition is set to ship in late July, while the Poverty Cube version will ship at a later date.
Originally scheduled for an early 2026 release, the Steam Machine faced delays due to the AI-driven RAM shortage earlier this year. As Valve works on resolving these issues, the pricing for the Steam Machine may see an increase upon its eventual launch. This development follows the recent price adjustment for the Steam Deck, a handheld device that falls short of Valve's mini gaming PC promises.
