Edgerunners, the acclaimed anime spin-off from CD Projekt's Cyberpunk 2077, is set to return soon for more episodes — but there's even more from its world on the way. According to a report by MP1st, an unannounced project codenamed "Gemini" has been in development since 2025. Details from a former WayForward employee suggest that the project is in the research and design phase, planned as a "rollback-driven" 2.5D brawler, potentially similar to WayForward's River City Girls series with an anime vibe.
It's uncertain if the project is still in development, as WayForward had a game based on an external franchise cancelled last year due to funding issues. CD Projekt declined to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, Cyberpunk fans can anticipate a second season of Edgerunners premiering on Netflix this fall. Cyberpunk 2 is also in the works, with details teased by creator Mike Pondsmith at the Digital Dragons 2025 conference.
Keanu Reeves expressed interest in reprising his role in the Cyberpunk sequel, with Pondsmith hinting at a way to include him. However, Cyberpunk 2 is not expected until at least 2030, as CD Projekt focuses on The Witcher 4. Fans have urged CD Projekt to release more DLC for Cyberpunk 2077.
