Sales of CD Projekt Red's 2020 RPG Cyberpunk 2077 have surpassed 40 million copies, including the base game and ultimate edition, with a recent sale driving the price down to $18 until July 9.
CD Projekt Red's Cyberpunk 2077 has reached a significant milestone by selling over 40 million copies as of July 3. This figure includes sales of the base game and copies from the ultimate edition. The recent boost in sales was attributed to a Steam sale that offered the game at a 70% discount, dropping its price to $18 until July 9.
The game's previous sales update in November 2025 reported 35 million copies sold. Despite its troubled launch in December 2020, the game has seen a remarkable turnaround with continuous support, updates, and improvements from the Polish developer. Cyberpunk 2077's success has even outpaced The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which sold over 60 million units, solidifying its position among the top 10 best-selling games of all time.
Following the release of Cyberpunk 2077 2.0 in 2023 and the well-received Phantom Liberty expansion, CD Projekt Red is now developing a sequel, Cyberpunk 2, at its new Boston office in addition to teams in Warsaw and Vancouver. The studio is also concurrently working on The Witcher 4, The Witcher 5, and The Witcher 6, all slated for release within a six-year timeframe.
