Crunchyroll has introduced its initial streaming bundle for U.S. viewers, partnering with Starz at $16.99 per month, exclusively accessible via Prime Video. The bundle, detailed in Amazon's press release, provides a 23% discount, aligning with Crunchyroll's standard 'Fan' tier priced at $9.99/month. Starz, in contrast, offers a single standalone plan at $11.99/month.
Prime Video's U.S. Channels Director, Matt Huntley, commented on the unique amalgamation of services arriving on Amazon, emphasizing the convenience for customers to access diverse entertainment genres seamlessly. Both Crunchyroll and Starz are running individual promotional offers, with Starz presenting a three-month subscription at $5.99/month for new users, and Crunchyroll granting a 17% discount on annual plans until July's conclusion.
Crunchyroll, with over 21 million subscribers, is the leading anime streaming platform in North America. Following its contentious acquisition and merger with Funimation in 2021, Crunchyroll now operates as a collaborative endeavor between Sony Pictures Entertainment in the U.S. and Japan's Aniplex Inc., subsidiaries of the Tokyo-based Sony Group.
