China Executes Man Who Poisoned Billionaire Boss Over 3 Body Problem

China executes man who murdered his billionaire boss after a disagreement over the management of Netflix's 3 Body Problem series.

China has executed Xu Yao for poisoning Lin Qi, the founder of Yoozoo Games, with toxic mercury-filled probiotic pills. Lin, also an executive producer on Netflix's 3 Body Problem, initially put Xu in charge of managing the franchise rights before a falling out. Xu's actions led to Lin's death in 2020, resulting in Xu's trial and subsequent execution in 2024.

Yoozoo Games, known for the Game of Thrones spinoff Winter is Coming, also handles the rights for 3 Body Problem. Lin's tragic death occurred due to the poisoned pills supplied by Xu, who was sentenced to death last week. Netflix's 3 Body Problem is gearing up for its second season release, with plans for a third installment.
