CFB 27 Removes Controversial Microtransactions

EA Sports has removed the CFB 27 microtransaction system following backlash from players.

EA announced the removal of paid progression options from Road to Glory and Online Dynasty modes in response to player feedback. The move came after players criticized the ability to pay real money for instant improvements. The removal of these microtransactions was met with approval from the community, which had organized a boycott against the pay-to-level options.

Despite the removal of controversial MTX options, microtransactions still exist in the Ultimate Team mode. EA has previously offered paid progression systems in games like Battlefield, allowing players to unlock content instantly for a price. The company is currently undergoing a $55 billion deal to sell itself to investors, which includes taking on significant debt.
