CD Projekt CEO Talks About Reputation Post-Cyberpunk 2077

CD Projekt joint CEO Michał Nowakowski understands that some fans of the developer have lost faith in the company 'indefinitely' following the Cyberpunk 2077 catastrophe.

Michał Nowakowski, joint CEO of CD Projekt, acknowledges the loss of faith some fans have experienced towards the company after the Cyberpunk 2077 launch issues. Despite the troubled release of Cyberpunk 2077 in December 2020, which led to its removal from the PlayStation Store due to technical problems, the game achieved significant commercial success. Nowakowski expressed optimism about the company's future, particularly mentioning the upcoming title, The Witcher 4. He emphasized that while CD Projekt has made progress with Cyberpunk 2077 through updates and expansions, the reputational damage from the launch still lingers.

Nowakowski admitted that regaining the trust of certain players might be challenging but remains hopeful for the future, hinting at potential redemption through future projects like The Witcher 4. Although The Witcher 4's release date is unknown, CD Projekt Red is working on various titles, including a remake of the original Witcher, a new IP, and a game involving Saudi Arabia.
