Activision is breaking the trend this year by bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to the new Nintendo Switch 2 on October 23, alongside releases for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. This move fulfills a promise made by Microsoft during the FTC vs. Microsoft court case in 2023, where they committed to a 10-year agreement to release Call of Duty on Nintendo platforms simultaneously with Xbox.
The Switch 2 version of Modern Warfare 4, developed by Infinity Ward in collaboration with Digital Legends, is a native adaptation for the platform. While details on potential differences from other versions remain unknown, the game's release marks a significant return of the Call of Duty franchise to Nintendo consoles.
Modern Warfare 4's storyline focuses on the Korean Peninsula, following the journey of Private Park and the return of Captain Price. The game promises a diverse campaign spanning locations like New York, Paris, and Mumbai, along with the reintroduction of multiplayer with new maps and the DMZ mode.
