Activision has confirmed that Infinity Ward is leading the development of Modern Warfare 4, with a release date of October 23, 2026. The game will be available on major platforms including PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, and Nintendo Switch 2. Modern Warfare 4 will not be part of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate on launch day, breaking from Microsoft's previous strategy.
The story of Modern Warfare 4 will focus on the Korean peninsula, with players embodying Private Park. Captain Price makes a return, and the game will feature battles in locations like New York, Paris, and Mumbai. Multiplayer in MW4 promises a more grounded experience with authentic gunplay and new features like Gunfight maps and vehicle-centric Big War maps. An open beta has been confirmed, and the DMZ mode from Modern Warfare II will make a comeback in MW4.
