Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Coming to Nintendo Switch 2

Infinity Ward is bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to Nintendo Switch 2, with cross-play support and a confirmed release date of October 23.

Infinity Ward is making a significant move by bringing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 to the upcoming Nintendo Switch 2. This marks the return of the CoD franchise to a Nintendo platform after nearly a decade. Jack O'Hara, Infinity Ward's co-studio head, expressed how smoothly the process has been in developing a native version for the Switch 2. He mentioned that the game quickly adapted to the platform and that the experience has been enjoyable so far.

The Switch 2, although less powerful compared to the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S, will support cross-play with other consoles and PC. O'Hara hinted that the exact details of cross-play implementation will be finalized closer to the launch date. Microsoft, as the owner of Activision, is ensuring that Call of Duty titles will release simultaneously on Xbox and Switch, maintaining feature and content parity. The last time a Call of Duty game was on a Nintendo platform was back in 2013 with Call of Duty: Ghosts on the Wii U.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to launch on October 23 for Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. However, it will not be available on PS4 and Xbox One. Preorders are currently open, excluding the Switch 2. Additionally, Activision has announced a 'Loyalty' discount for MW4, offering a 10% discount on the game's Vault edition.
