Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Addresses Always-Online Issue

One of the big gripes around last year's Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 was its always-online requirement for its campaign.

Players of Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 found the always-online requirement for the campaign to be a significant drawback, leading to tedious progress and the inability to pause the game without risks. The upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is set to solve this issue by allowing players to enjoy the single-player campaign offline. This change will be a relief for gamers, especially those using mobile gaming platforms like the Steam Deck or the Nintendo Switch 2 edition of Modern Warfare 4, where maintaining a stable internet connection can be challenging.

Infinity Ward, the developer of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, has announced that the game's campaign will be playable offline, providing players with a more flexible and enjoyable gaming experience. The removal of the always-online requirement will eliminate a major obstacle that players faced in the previous installment, Black Ops 7, where connectivity issues often disrupted gameplay. This improvement is expected to enhance the overall gaming experience for players across various platforms, including PC, PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and Switch 2.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 is scheduled to launch on October 23, offering players a dark and intense narrative set in a scenario where South Korea is under a massive invasion by North Korea. The game promises to deliver the signature action-packed gameplay of the Call of Duty franchise without the hindrance of an always-online feature. Additionally, players can look forward to an open beta before the official release, along with the return of Modern Warfare 2's DMZ mode.
