This summer, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 users will finally get to play Call of Duty: Black Ops and Call of Duty: Black Ops 2. These ports, confirmed by developer Treyarch for a July release via social media, were handled by Iron Galaxy. However, they are not remasters, so players shouldn't expect significant visual upgrades.
The original Black Ops was released in 2010, followed by Black Ops 2 in 2012. The Black Ops franchise has been highly popular within the Call of Duty series, with two more games, Black Ops 6 and Black Ops 7, released in 2024 and 2025. This year, the franchise is taking a break with the upcoming release of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 on various platforms on October 23. Modern Warfare 4 will introduce a GTA-like wanted system to its DMZ.
